Nonhlanhla Peggy-Sue Khumalo

  • Qualifications: In 2000 Peggy-Sue was awarded a scholarship by the late former State President, Honourable Nelson Mandela and was sponsored by Investec Bank South Africa to study Economics at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. She holds a BA Honours (Economics and Politics) and an MSc in Economics
  • A former beauty queen who won the 1996 Miss SA pageant, Peggy-Sue has come a long way from the glitz and glamorous world of fashion to walk with authority in the corridors of SA’s Specialist Bank and Asset Manager power house, Investec. She joined Investec Bank UK in 2004 as an analyst with the institution’s Asset Management division. Peggy-Sue ran her own successful public relations and communications consulting firm in Johannesburg that boasted a staff compliment of 20 and listed among its blue chip clients Eskom, 3Com South Africa, Anglo American, Coca-Cola and hotel chain Hilton South Africa. It was her firm, for instance, that managed the PR and communication for the All Africa Games in 1999 and did events management for SA’s 2006 World Cup Bid. After seven years in London, Peggy-Sue returned to South Africa and joined Investec’s Corporate and Institutional Banking division. There, her main focus was growing the institution’s public sector portfolio.
